Sacramento, California - Real Estate
Sacramento is the capital and fifth largest city of California, as well as county seat of Sacramento County. The city proper has a population of 454,330, according to a 2004 estimate, with 2,016,702 people residing in its greater metropolitan area.
Like most of California, Sacramento has a very hot real estate market, with prices increasing considerably over the past few years. The median cost of a single family dwelling rose to $380,900, or nearly double the national average, at the end of 2005.
This prohibits the vast majority of low income homeowners from buying property in the area. It is possible, however, for the reasonably well estateblished buyer to find a more reasonable deal through the use of foreclosures and discount property listings.
