  • Sarasota, Florida - Real Estate

Sarasota is a small city located on Florida’s western coast. It is the county seat of Sarasota County, and has a population of 54,349, according to a 2004 estimate.

Real estate prices in the area have skyrocketed in recent years, growing 30% in 2005 alone, and nearly doubling in the space of 36 months. The median cost of a single family dwelling currently stands at $374,900, over $150,000 above the national average.

This makes Sarasota a very difficult destination for all but the most established buyers, and virtually unattainable for first time homebuyers and low income retirees. It is still possible, however, to find a few more reasonable deals through the use of foreclosure listings and dicount realty services.
