Spokane, Washington - Real Estate
Located in eastern Washington, Spokane is the second largest city in the state. It has a population of a little over 200,000, or about 435,000, including the surrounding metro area.
Real estate prices in the area have increased significantly in the past few years, with growth of 23.5% in 2005 alone. The median cost of a single family home in the region currently stands at $168,600, or somewhat lower than the U.S. national average.
This means that Spokane is still a relatively affordable destination for most well established buyers, but has become an increasingly difficult market to crack for first time homeowners and low income families. Some very cheap deals are still available, however, mostly in the form of foreclosed properties and other discount listings.
